Tickets Booked!

Last night I bought my tickets to Uganda! It looks like this is really happening...

  I wasn't able to buy them with my Visa points as a round trip so instead I had to break it up into 2 trips. I will fly via points to Amsterdam and then fly from Amsterdam round trip to Uganda. The 2 trips came out to less than $1000, plus I get to spend a night in Amsterdam each way. That's pretty exciting since I've never been there and I should have enough time to do a bit of exploring.

  I will arrive in Uganda at 3am and since I'll be arriving on the requested start date, FSD has told me that they will take care of all arrangements when I arrive. They will arrange for a guesthouse to pick me up from the airport so I'll be able to get some rest. They will then pick me up on their way through to Uganda. They have told me that they are close to finalizing my placement so hopefully I will know soon!

Not much to update...

I've been waiting the last month to hear more about my placement from the Masaka team but still no word. I bought my plane ticket home to Canada yesterday and will leave (and arrive) on September 3rd. Looks like I'll be leaving for Uganda on September 18th or 19th so I'll have a good two weeks back home. I am hoping to cover the majority of the ticket cost for the Uganda flight with my Visa points.

  Thanks to some more generous donations (including one for $800!), I have raised about $2000 towards my trip. I am so thankful for all the support and help I've received. I will be trying to sell the leftover books from my previous sale at a friend's friend's bookshop and might do some fundraising later in the summer here, and potentially back home.
